MONA Fascicle 22.1A
DREPANOIDEA, Doidae; NOCTUOIDEA, Notodontidae (Part): Pygaerinae, Notodontinae, Cerurinae, Phalerinae, Periergosinae, Dudusinae, Hemiceratinae

2018, 339 pages, 11 color plates of adults, 9 color plates of larvae, 23 monochrome plates, line drawings.

This is the first of two volumes (volume 2 4012B) treating North American Notodontidae. It also includes North American Doidae. Seven subfamilies of Notodontidae are revised: Pygaerinae, Notodontinae, Cerurinae, Phalerinae, Periergosinae, Dudusinae, and Hemiceratinae. The Notodontidae in this volume includes 75 species assigned to 17 genera. The Doidae includes three species in two genera. For Notodontidae, two new genera and eight new species are proposed.

Keys to the adults of all 17 genera and 75 species are included. Adults are illustrated in color, and male and female genitalia are illustrated by line drawings or photographic images. Larvae of two species of Doidae and 64 species of Nearctic Notodontidae are illustrated in color. Many new life histories are reported, with larvae of these species being figured and diagnosed here for the first time. Included are larval representatives of all notodontid genera known to breed north of Mexico.

Smythe sewn (to lie flat when open) and hardcover; 8-1/2 x 11".

MONA Fascicle 22.1B NOCTUOIDEA, Notodontidae (Part, Conclusion): Heterocampinae, Nystaleinae, Dioptinae, Dicranurinae

2021, 443 pages, 10 color plates of adults, 18 color plates of larvae, 50 monochrome plates, 104 species accounts.

This is the second volume of a two-part revision of North American Notodontidae known to occur north of the Mexican border. A total of 179 notodontid species in 51 genera are recognized. Covered here are the remaining 104 species in 34 genera, belonging to four subfamilies – Heterocampinae, Nystaleinae, Dioptinae, and Dicranurinae – not covered in Fascicle 22.1A (4012).

In this volume, fourteen new species are proposed, and keys to the adults of all 34 North American genera, and 104 species are included. Adults are illustrated in color, and male and female genitalia are illustrated by line drawings or photographic images.

In total (22.1A and 22.1B), larvae of 155 Notodontidae are illustrated in color. More than 85 new life histories are reported, with larvae of these species being figured and diagnosed here for the first time. Included are representatives of larvae of all notodontid genera known to breed north of Mexico. Two addenda treat recent findings.

Smythe sewn (to lie flat when open) and hardcover; 8-1/2 x 11".
