Originally developed by the U.S. Public Health Service to collect adult resting mosquitoes, this vacuum collector is also useful in other indoor/outdoor environments
for collecting fly-size resting insects in buildings, on row crops, or in nurseries and orchards.
Several improvements have been made to the basic design, and the backpack aspirator now features:
Ultra-light frame with easily adjusted harness
Incorporation of sealed, deep-cycle gel-cell battery
Inclusion of dual-rate charger with charge indicator
On/off switch conveniently located in suction wand for one-hand operation
Collection cups made of high-density polypropylene
The unit is comfortable to wear and simple to operate by inserting a collection
cup onto the wand and turning on the switch. It has a very quiet 5.1-amp suction motor, and pulls 150 cu. feet of air per minute. The 12 VDC , 18 amp hour, sealed battery provides about three hours of continuous use when fully charged. A fully depleted battery requires less than 10 hours to recharge.
The unit comes with a 12VDC battery, Battery Charger and, Five, 8-ounce collection cups with 18 x 14 mesh screen (.009" wire diameter) are furnished. Collection cups with 30 x 30 fine mesh screen (.008" wire diameter) are also available, sold separately. Operating and battery maintenance instructions are included.
