The effective operation of portable night light collecting systems can be enhanced considerably by using a photoelectric switch. These light sensitive devices automatically turn black lights "on" at dusk, and "off" at dawn, and are available for AC or DC applications. They make unattended night collecting possible when the user is not on hand to turn the lights on or off, and eliminate power consumption during daylight hours. Switches are housed in aluminum boxes 1-5/8 x 2-1/8 x 2-3/4" with small windows that expose photo cells to light changes. Two 18" electrical leads with appropriate AC or DC connectors are provided. The 2833A photoelectric switch is designed for lights and traps using 120-volt 60 Hz (North American) electrical current. It has a 300-watt capacity, and is compatible with BioQuip 2804, 2806, 2818 and 2819 collecting lights as well as 2851T and 2851L Universal black light traps. The 2833B switch is used with lights and traps wired for 12-volt DC current (commonly used in motor vehicles and battery packs). It has a 50-watt capacity, and can be used with one or two 2804 or #2805 collecting lights, or with one or two 2851U or 2851M traps. This photoswitch is effective in reducing drain on batteries because unattended lights are ‘on’ only during dark hours.
