Used to pin wings of Lepidoptera into a fixed position until set, these spreading boards are unique in offering two separate methods of pin adjustment. The pinning strip is solid balsa, and accepts mounting pins at any depth along the pin shaft. It may be adjusted vertically to suit user preference, and may be tacked or glued permanently in the desired position. Both boards feature adjustable horizontal pinning grooves, from 0 to 7/8" (0-22mm). Basswood mounting surfaces are angled at 165°. Balsa pinning strip is 3/8" (16mm) thick, and 1" (20mm) wide. Boards are 12" (305mm) long. The 1023E board is used to mount varied sizes of specimens. Pinning surfaces are 2" (51mm) wide; overall board width is 4-7/8" (124mm). The 1023F board is intended for mounting large Lepidoptera. Pinning surfaces are 3" (76mm) wide; overall board width is 6-7/8" (175mm).
