2008, 672 pages. This important publication provides an exhaustive synonymic catalogue of all names that have been applied to butterflies of the U.S. and Canada, through June, 2006. Six families, 234 genera, 800 species and 1898 subspecies are included. Extensive lists of excluded species and excluded names are provided. In addition, a complete systematic bibliography to the butterflies of the region is included, together with a subspecies-level checklist and taxonomic index. The catalogue enumerates names from family to species, and ancillary details are provided for each, including original description, original combination, type locality, deposition of type(s) when known, and annotations to their placement within the catalogue when pertinent.
