Sets of five insect life cycle models each contain four large replicas - eggs, larva, pupa, and adult.  These realistically crafted educational models are ideal for teachers, parents, and nature centers. Educational information about each of the four life stages in English, Spanish, and French is printed on the back of the blister card sets.  Non-toxic and BPA free. For ages 4 and older.

5288A Life Cycle of a Mosquito - Mosquitos go through a radical transformation, spending three out of four stages living in water. As adults, only females drink blood; males are only interested in mating.  The flexible figures show how mosquitos advance through extremely distinct stages. The adult replica measures 4 inches from wingtip to wingtip, so all the details are magnified. Scientific name: Culicidae.

5288B Life Cycle of a Monarch Butterfly - Thanks to its bright orange and black coloring, the adult Monarch is one of the best-known butterfly species. It undergoes one of the most extensive changes in all of nature.  Its amazing transition is shown in this four-part life cycle. Scientific name: Danaus Plexippus.

5288C Life Cycle of a Honey Bee -  While eggs, larvae, and pupae are almost clear, the honey bee takes on its iconic black and yellow coloration when it emerges from the pupa stage as an adult. The adult replica in this set is 3 inches long.  Scientific name: Apis mellifera.

5228E Life Cycle of a Stag Beetle - The beetle goes through the four stages of metamorphosis, hatching from an egg to become a larva or grub, then forming a pupa from which the adult beetle emerges. Many insect life cycles are measured in weeks, the stag beetle can take years to develop. The most striking characteristic of the adult stag beetle is its massive mandibles which resemble the antlers of a stag. The adult figure measures 3-1/2" long.  Scientific name: Lucanus cervus.

5228G Life Cycle of an Ant - Ants live in large colonies led by a queen, whose only job is to lay eggs. Worker ants do the heavy lifting, retrieving food and expanding the colony, while drones exist only to mate with the queen.  Adult ants have distinct coloration depending on the species. This adult ant is 2-3/4" long. Scientific name: Formica.
